ROMA - The performance put in by Denzel Dumfries at the Stadio Olimpico can be summed up by two moments which proved pivotal in the Nerazzurri coming away with all three points. In the 37th minute the Dutchman was on hand to make a crucial block to deny Matias Vina's effort. Just two minutes later the full-back was up the other end and on hand to nod in Alessandro Bastoni's cross, his first goal for Inter.
Dumfries's strike means he's now the tenth Dutchman to score in Serie A. The Dutchman spoke after the game of how much the moment meant to him:
"I'd dreamt of this moment for so long. I'd like to dedicate this to my pregnant partner. I was thinking about her and my family. Shortly before finishing off Bastoni's fantasic pass I'd made that decisive block.
"I was really please with how my teammates reacted to my goal. Before the game we'd spoken about the prospect of me getting my first goal, it was great to open my account.
"Beyond the goal the overall impressions of the performance were positive. We played great and controlled the game. I'm happy because my performances have improved since I joined the club.
"My teammates have helped me improve along the way. The team fully believes in what it has to offer while taking our opponents into account. This title race will go right down to the wire."
