MERSIN - Inter Academy Turkey was put in motion almost two years ago with the aim of passing on footballing skills and knowledge to both young local players and coaches. It sought to give Turkish children the opportunity to improve their abilities under the Inter name whilst still in their home country, following the high technical and ethical standards set by the Nerazzurri. The results of all of this labour have borne fruit with the success of the U13s in a local tournament.
The Inter Academy Turkey stars’ journey started in Mersin, the base of the academy itself, and continued with matches held in Adana and Antalya. The final stages of the tournament in Ankara were held from 18 to 22 April, which featured the best eight female and male Turkish teams of that age group.
The tournament was organised by the government to coincide with both Turkish Independence Day and National Children's Day and featured 1,381 Turkish teams, both professional and non-professional. Inter’s U13 side won all of their matches and ended the tournament in second place. The Nerazzurri picked up numerous accolades from the organizers, who were also keen to congratulate Inter for their commitment to improving and training Turkish players throughout the country.
