Match Preview: Fiorentina-Inter

MILAN – Inter are gearing up for their final away match of 2019, with the Nerazzurri  set to face Fiorentina on matchday 16 at 20:45 CET on Sunday 15 December in Serie A. 




No other team has conceded more headed goals than Fiorentina this season (six), while Inter has conceded the least (one). Furthermore, only Cagliari (seven) has scored more headers than Inter (six). 


Goals, clean sheet and possession

The number of goals scored by Romelu Lukaku (10) and Lautaro Martínez (eight) combined this season is the same tally as the entire Fiorentina squad, while Handanovic’s next clean sheet will be No.100 for Inter in Serie A. 

Marcelo Brozovic (1096) and Milan Skriniar (1011) are the only two players to have made over 1000 passes in Serie A this season, with Fiorentina’s top-passer proving to be Milenkovic with 744.

The Nerazzurri boast three players who previously played for Fiorentina. First is Matias Vecino, who made 61 appearances from 2015 to 2017. Next is Borja Valero  who scored 14 goals in 166 appearances for the Viola, while Cristiano Biraghi played 70 times during two seasons with Fiorentina, scoring two goals and providing eight assists.

Neither side will be missing any players through suspension this weekend, however, Inter’s list of players one booking away includes: Barella (Inter), Lautaro Martinez (Inter), Skriniar (Inter), Brozovic (Inter), D’Ambrosio (Inter).


Maurizio Mariani will take charge of Sunday’s game, with Schenone and Vivenzi confirmed as his assistants. Giacomelli will be the fourth official. Mazzoleni will officiate VAR with Paganessi as the VAR assistant.
