Stats and a video on the players who scored their first-ever goal for the Nerazzurri this season

MILAN – Nine first times. Nine Nerazzurri players scored their first ever goal for Inter during the 2019/20 season. Two of them did it on their debut, Sensi and Lukaku, on the opening day of the season against Lecce. From August to March, in a season that has so far seen 18 different goal scorers, nine of them did it for the first time with Inter.

Stefano Sensi and Romelu Lukaku – Inter 4-0 Lecce 26/08/19

On his Nerazzurri debut on matchday one of Serie A, Stefano Sensi scored to momentarily make it 2-0 against Lecce. In that very same match, also on his debut, Romelu Lukaku then made it 3-0. In the three points per win era (since the 1994/95 season) it had never happened that two Inter players scored on their Serie A debut for the Nerazzurri.

Nicolò Barella – Inter 1-1 Slavia Prague 17/09/19

It was the first Champions League match of Nicolò Barella’s career and he managed to score his first goal in a 1-1 home draw against Slavia Prague. Before Barella, the last Italian player to score on his Champions League debut was Davide Zappacosta in September 2017 when Conte’s Chelsea played Qarabag. Barella was also the first Italian player to score in the Champions League for Inter since Pazzini against Marseille in March 2012.

Alexis Sanchez – Sampdoria 1-3 Inter 28/09/19

His deflection that saw Sensi’s shot go in was just the appetiser before Alexis Sanchez’ first proper goal for the Nerazzurri at the Ferraris. That goal for the Chilean occurred 3121 days after his last goal in Serie A (March 2011 for Udinese against Cagliari).

Sebastiano Esposito – Inter 4-0 Genoa 21/12/19

With his penalty against Genoa in December, Sebastiano Esposito became the second youngest player to ever score a goal in Serie A for Inter: the youngest was Mario Corso (17 years and 97 days old), while behind him are Mario Balotelli, Aldo Campatelli and Roberto Cesati.

Alessandro Bastoni – Lecce 1-1 Inter 19/01/2020

Alessandro Bastoni’s first Nerazzurri goal came with a header against Lecce last January. It was the young defender’s second ever Serie A goal having also scored for Parma last season.

Ashley Young – Lazio 2-1 Inter 16/02/20

Having arrived at Inter in the January transfer window, Young became an immediate starter and found the net in Inter’s unfortunate defeat against Lazio at the Olimpico. That goal was the first by an Englishman for the Nerazzurri in Serie A since Paul Ince in 1997.

Christian Eriksen – Ludogorets 0-2 Inter 20/02/20

Another acquisition in January, the Dane scored his first goal with a thunderous right-footed strike from the edge of the box in the Europa League game against Ludogorets.

Cristiano Biraghi – Inter 2-1 Ludogorets 27/02/2020

Biraghi had already scored a goal for the Nerazzurri: against Manchester City in the pre-season summer tour in 2010. The left fullback, who had already played in the Champions League in 2010/11, returned to wearing Inter’s shirt this season and scored in the Europe League round of 32 second leg against Ludogorets.
