The 2003-born Croatian centre-midfielder has signed from Dinamo Zagreb on a permanent basis

Green forests, rushing rivers, and striking mountain ranges make the Balkans a rich and beautiful landscape. They’re a crossroads of cultures and a borderland that has often been at the centre of events in human history of immense magnitude. It’s a part of the world that breathes fantasy, creativity, and the dreams of its inhabitants. These same characteristics can be found in Petar Sučić, Inter’s new midfielder.

Born on 25 October 2003 in Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Croatian parents, Petar grew up in Kandija, a small village in central Bosnia. There, the Sučić family owned a farm and a plot of arable land. It’s a place that will forever remain in Petar’s heart, as that is where he started to play football. His formal beginnings in the game came at 9 years of age when he joined NK Sport Prevent, an amateur club in Bugojno, the main city in the region.

The Balkan peninsular lives and breathes football and has given the world some incredible players, and Sučić worked hard to break through. In 2018, he joined the academy at Iskra Bugojno, where he would remain until 2020 when he was noticed by scouts from Zrinjski Mostar, the most successful club in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Then, in January 2022, he moved to Dinamo Zagreb and was placed into the second team, making his professional debut and playing nine times in the Croatian second division.

His career took off for good in 2022/23 when Dinamo loaned him back to Zrinjski. Sučić had a great season in Mostar, helping the Plemići to the league title and the national cup. He also got his first taste of European football, playing one game in the Champions League preliminary rounds and four in Conference League qualification, though Zrinjski failed to reach the group stage.

After returning to the Croatian capital, Petar became a key player for Dinamo, thanks in part to Igor Biscan, the coach who decided to believe in his great potential. The 2023/24 campaign was a successful one for Dinamo Zagreb, as they won the Prva HNL, the Croatian Cup, and the Croatian Super Cup. That season, Petar made 42 appearances and scored two goals. In 2024/25, he broke onto the international stage, scoring two goals in the Champions League – against Monaco and Slovan Bratislava – and making his debut for Croatia after deciding to represent his parents’ homeland. He even scored against Poland in the Nations League. In total, Petar made 31 appearances and scored seven goals in the season just gone, the most productive of his career to date.

A gifted midfielder with great vision, technique and versatility, Petar can cover a number of roles in the centre of the park. The cousin of Luka Sučić, who currently plays for Real Sociedad, Petar is now the eighth Croatian in Inter’s history. His switch from Dinamo Zagreb to the Nerazzurri sees him follow in the footsteps of Mateo Kovačić and Marcelo Brozović, key members of the Croatia side that finished in the top three at the FIFA World Cup on two occasions.

So, Petar Sučić’s Inter adventure is just beginning. It’s a new chapter in a story about a dream come true, one that is yet to be written.
