The facts that you need to know following the Nerazzurri's victory at the Ferraris

MILAN – Inter got back to winning ways at the Ferraris thanks to a tidy display full of character, with Lukaku and D’Ambrosio getting on the scoresheet for the Nerazzurri. Thanks to their win against Maran’s side (read the match report here), Conte’s men now sit on ten points in the league.

LUKAKU’S GOALSCORING ACHIEVEMENTS

Inter have found the net 13 times in their first five league matches (the Nerazzurri have only scored more after five matchdays on one occasion since the start of the new millennium: 15 in 2013/14), five of which have been bagged by Romelu Lukaku. Out of all the non-Italian players in the league, and not taking penalties into account, Romelu Lukaku has scored the most goals in Serie A since he arrived in Italy (2019/20): 22 in fact. His finish against Genoa was his fifth goal against the Rossoblù (the team he’s had the most success against in the Italian top flight) and his 41st in a Nerazzurri shirt. Out of all those who play for Serie A sides, only Immobile (also 41) has bagged as many goals in all competitions from 2019/20 to today.

D’AMBROSIO: A CONSISTENT PERFORMER

After his decisive goal in Inter’s opening league fixture of the 2020/21 season against Fiorentina, Danilo D’Ambrosio found the net for the second time this campaign against Genoa, sealing the Nerazzurri’s win in the process. Thanks to that goal, D’Ambrosio is the only Inter player to have scored at least two goals in each of the past six Serie A seasons. It’s the first time that Inter’s number 33 has scored at least twice in the first five matches of a Serie A season since 2013/14.

AN ASSIST FOR RANOCCHIA

The Nerazzurri managed to keep their first clean sheet of the season yesterday. Against Genoa, Inter only allowed the Rossoblù to have one attempt at goal throughout the whole match: they haven’t limited the opposition to so few shots in Serie A since their game against Cagliari in April 2018. As regards Andrea Ranocchia, who completed 91 out of his 94 passes, he provided his first assist in the Italian top flight since September 2012 (against Fiorentina).
