MILAN – He joined Inter’s youth setup in 1957, made his first-team debut at the age of 18 and wore the Nerazzurri shirt for 17 seasons. During that time, he made 565 appearances and scored 158 goals, the first of which came against Juventus and the last of which he netted on 22 June 1977 in the Coppa Italia against Lecce.
On the international stage, he won the 1968 European Championship and finished as a runner-up at the 1970 World Cup. At club level, meanwhile, he established himself as one of the best Italian players of all time, winning two European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups and four Scudetto titles.
