The Inter captain, who is about to begin his tenth season at Inter, turns 37 today
Samir Handanovic is today celebrating his 37th birthday.
It is the tenth birthday Handanovic has celebrated with Inter, as he prepares for his tenth season with the Nerazzurri.
The Slovenian goalkeeper – who was born in Ljubljana on 14 July 1984 – joined Inter back on 9 July 2012. Since then, he has made 389 appearances for the Nerazzurri and has captained the side since 2019.
Walter Zenga (473) is the only goalkeeper to have made more appearances for Inter than Handanovic, but the Slovenian has appeared in Serie A more times than any other keeper in Inter history, with 515. This total makes him the all-time leading appearance maker in Serie A for a goalkeeper not from Italy. Overall, Handanovic is 13th in the all-time Serie A appearance charts, just four behind Beppe Bergomi on 519.
Handanovic was wearing the captain's armband when he hoisted the Scudetto trophy aloft at San Siro back in May – a long-awaited 19th Serie A title for the Nerazzurri.
