MILAN – This year was the 50th anniversary of Roberto Boninsegna's historic overhead kick against Foggia to clinch Inter's 11th Scudetto – and today the man himself turns 78.
Born in Mantova in 1943, 'Bonimba' came through the Nerazzurri academy ranks and spent seven seasons with the first team. Between 1969 and 1976, he notched 171 goals in 281 appearances in all competitions, starring in our triumphant 1970/71 league campaign.
Boninsegna twice finished as Serie A top scorer and ranks third in Inter's all-time scoring charts.
He is one of the candidates to be inducted in the fourth edition of the Inter Hall of Fame.
On behalf of everyone at the club, happy birthday, Roberto!
