Mancini’s Inter repeated the previous year’s success after an incredible match against Roma at San Siro. The Giallorossi went 3–0 up through Mancini and Aquilani (brace), before the Nerazzurri fought back: a brace from Vieira (in his first match in Nerazzurri colours, debuts also for Ibrahimović, Maicon, Grosso and Dacourt), followed by Hernán Crespo’s 3–3 equaliser on his return to Inter. In extra-time, a stunning free-kick from Figo made it 4–3 to seal the win.
