Ciurria opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, before the Nerazzurri equalised through an own goal by Birindelli and then took the lead thanks to a fantastic backheel from Pio Esposito. Azzi levelled it up again late on. In the shootout, Martinez kept out Sardo's spot-kick, and Thuram struck the winning penalty.
