Erick Thohir's letter to the fans

Dear Inter fans,

As you know, Suning Holdings Group has acquired a majority stake in F.C. Internazionale Milano.

It is with great pride that I will continue in my role of president of Inter and I would like to thank you for your support over the last two and a half years of my presidency. It has been an honour and a privilege to guide the Club through this period of change.

I am sure that the arrival of Suning will help return us to the very top tier of world football, both on the pitch and off it. That is where we should be given the wonderful history and traditions of this Club. Speaking of Inter’s history, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Moratti and his family who have led the Nerazzurri throughout the Club’s most successful years.

The world of sport is changing rapidly. Football is a global phenomenon and in order to compete at the highest level Inter needs to leverage its global brand. China and Asia are the new frontiers of the sports economy and the arrival of Suning means we are on the front line of that expansion. And we must affect this exciting growth without forgetting the Club’s Italian roots and Milanese heritage.

Thanks to the support of Suning and Mr. Zhang Jindong, we will have the chance to engage with the Chinese population of 1.3 billion people, many of whom are keen to experience this wonderful sport first hand.

Suning’s acquisition of a majority stake in Inter is a key step in our journey back to the top of Italian and European football. Our history clearly shows that our place is up among the world's most successful clubs and Suning will help us to achieve that.
