Midfielder interviewed by Mediaset: "Our aim for 2017 is to finish as high as possible in the league. This is a big, ambitious club. Suning are right behind us"

MILAN – Antonio Candreva has reiterated the extent of Inter's and Suning's ambition in an exclusive interview with Mediaset Premium.

Running the rule over his first few months in a Nerazzurri jersey, the Italy winger began: "The results haven't been what we expected at the start of the season but we've started afresh now and I'm sure we're on the right track.

“Personally I feel immensely honoured to play for Inter and I'll give my all for this team. We ran into a few difficulties at the start of the season but we're keen to improve – and we must do better.

"Inter's minimum target should be getting back into the Champions League. This is a big, ambitious club and I'm glad to be a part of this family. When a club like Inter comes calling, you have no hesitation saying yes. I'm happy here. It's a big challenge for me.

"Suning spent a lot of money on me and I'm thankful to them and everyone at Inter for choosing me. I'm determined to show that I deserve their faith.. China may be a long way away but they're always behind us, often coming to training and matches. They're right beside us.”

Candreva has worked with three coaches in his first six months at Inter.

“Mancini wanted me but he left and you have to accept his decision.

Then De Boer came in, there were some highs and lows but results are everything in this game and things went the way they did.

Now we've started anew under Pioli and we're trying to build a successful team. He's extremely capable and he can make a big difference at Inter. We put in a lot of work preparing for games.

"When he and I found ourselves working together again at Inter, we immediately focused on our present here because we want to make a success of it. I'm happy to do anything the gaffer needs – be that put in a shift for the team or whatever. With a bit of enthusiasm you can do anything.

“Do I prefer scoring or setting up team-mates? I enjoy both but I've always been more of a provider of goals.

“Our aim for 2017 is to finish the season as high as possible in the league. We want to be knocking out wins regularly in the second half of the campaign.”
