Argentine shotstopper reflects on Inter v Bologna: "We were able to dig in and reach the next round. We all have to play our hearts out for this club"

MILAN - Juan Pablo Carrizo believes the sense of team spirit running through the club is one of the key factors in Inter's turnaround this season.

The Nerazzurri's extra-time victory over Bologna was their seventh consecutive win in all competitions although few of them have been easy - and the Argentine keeper says that's down to the players' desire to give their all for the cause regardless of how much time they get.

"The main thing is we were able to dig in and reach the next round," Carrizo told Inter Channel after Tuesday's last-16 success.

“We're all training really well at the moment. The coach makes us all feel important regardless of how much playing time we get. It doesn't matter if it's the league or the cup: when you pull on the Inter shirt you have to play your heart out for this club.

“As a team we chase every ball and even if you only come on for five minutes you put everything you have into it. The coach, the player and the club are have done a great job in getting our heads down and turning things around.

“It was a very tense 120 minutes today but the lads were superb, especially in midfield, and played with incredible energy.”

Carrizo meanwhile was an onlooker for most of the match as Inter dominated proceedings and he could do little about the two goals conceded.

"These are the hardest sort of games for a goalkeeper," he added. "Their first goal came about because of a deflection and their second - you have to hand it to them - was a fantastic goal."
