"We wanted to go through – it wasn’t easy when we went down to ten men but we reacted well," said the Argentine forward after the game

MILAN Rodrigo Palacio spoke to Inter Channel after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 cup defeat to Lazio on Tuesday night, bemoaning the Coppa Italia exit but pointing to Inter’s fighting spirit as one positive to take from the loss.

"We wanted to go through. We played well in the first 20 minutes and limited them to counters, though to be fair they could have taken more of their chances," said Inter’s captain for the night.

"It was tough when we went down to ten men, but we reacted well and weren’t far away from equalising. We gave it our best shot and showed fighting spirit because we were desperate to go through.

"Now we need to focus on Juventus. We must produce a top performance to keep our run going – we’re doing very well in the league."
