Many happy returns Walter!

MILAN – The stats, of course, underline the magnitude of this man's career: nine seasons spent with the Nerazzurri, 236 appearances in total and 17 goals.

Walter Samuel won five Scudetto titles, three Coppa Italia tophies, four Super Cups, the 2010 Champions League and the 2010 Club World Cup.

However, the former defender, who is celebrating his 39th birthday today, was so much more than that. He was a rock on the pitch and in the changing room. Happily for us, his relationship with Inter didn't come to complete halt in 2014 when he retired: he has come back home this season to join Stefano Pioli's coaching staff.
