Every Wednesday, we look back at some of the most important quotes in the club’s long history

MILAN – It’s time for #WisdomWednesday once again, the day we delve back through the Nerazzurri history books to uncover lost pearls of wisdom.

Today it’s the turn of Ivan Zamorano, the Chilean forward still held in high regard by the Inter faithful. There are many reasons why Zamorano’s stay at the club was memorable, not least his unique 1+8 shirt number. Here, Zamorano explains how it came about.

"After the 1998 World Cup it was decided to give Ronaldo the No.9 Jersey. Sandro Mazzola suggested I pick two numbers that added up to nine. I asked if I could add a plus sign and we put in a request to the Italian FA. That’s how I ended up with that strange number everyone remembers."
