Vezzali: "Pioli's doing an excellent job"

MILAN – London 2012 gold medalist Valentina Vezzali spoke to Inter Channel after the first B2B Sponsor Inter event at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday.

"San Siro is always beautiful, almost as good as a fencing strip!" joked Vezzali, a massive Nerazzurri fan. "Since Stefano Pioli arrived, Inter have got on the right track. He’s done a great job with the squad; when they play well, they get results.

"Who is my favourite player? My son plays in goal, so his idol is Samir Handanovic, but Mauro Icardi has a place in all our hearts.

"As for whether we can achieve third place," yesterday’s guest of honour concluded, "fans never stop dreaming about the apparently impossible. Getting into the Champions League would be magnificent."
