"We must play to honour the shirt we wear - that's all the motivation we need." Read the coach's thoughts ahead of Genoa v Inter

APPIANO GENTILE - Stefano Pioli knows that six games without a win is simply not good enough for Inter and he's expecting nothing less than three points against Genoa tomorrow.

"I hope tomorrow will be the day we return to winning ways," the coach began his media conference on Saturday. "We're all ready for it and we'll choose our starting line-up tomorrow morning.

"It's been far too long since we last won and our target is very clear. We're Inter and we haven't won for six games. We must do everything possible to start winning again. We have plenty of incentive to do well tomorrow. I'm focused on nothing but tomorrow's match and the other three we have left.

"I can't comment on paper talk; only on reality. I've been given constant support – the club have shown me nothing but their backing and confidence in me.

“The international break wasn't what we needed and we paid a heavy price for it but now is not the time to be drawing conclusions; we have to focus on the present and on the game we have to play tomorrow.

"We'll be up against a team that's not having a great time of things so they'll be determined to get out of their own rut. Besides anything else, Genoa is always a tough place to go.

"It's hard to say anything to our fans because they've been doing everything and more to get behind the team. Our fans are top of the league and we have to show we're on the same level. We can't do that this season of course but I'm sure that the experience gained this year will help to build a great future for this club.

“Regardless of any potential Europa League qualification, we have to play to honour the shirt we wear – that's all the motivation we need.

“We have to try to play better than our opponents and obtain results that way. I expect the very best and I have great faith in my players. They've shown their ability and they haven't lost it. We just need to start reproducing it.”
