La Roja edge closer to a last-four berth at the Confederations Cup with a point against the reigning world champions

KAZAN - Gary Medel helped Chile earn a 1-1 draw with Germany in Group B of the Confederations Cup to remain on track for a semi-final spot with one game left to play.

Alexis Sanchez put the South Americans ahead in the sixth minute, becoming Chile's all-time top scorer - on 38 goals - in the process. However, the Germans ruined the party when Lars Stindl equalised shortly before half time to claim a share of the spoils.

Medel played 71 minutes of the match before being replaced by Paulo Diaz.

A draw against Trent Sainsbury's Australia in Matchday 3 will be enough to see Chile reach the last four of the competition.
