The Nerazzurri legends emerged victorious on penalties over Greece’s Euro 2004 heroes

HERAKLION – After 80 minutes of ‘normal time’ and a penalty shoot-out, it was Inter Forever who came out on top in Crete.

There was a festival atmosphere at the stadium to greet the national heros who won the Euros in 2004 and the Inter Forever legends, but also a minute's silence before kick-off in memory of Giuliano Sarti, who passed away recently.

Mohamed Kallon gave Inter the lead in the first half, with Kostas Katsouranis drawing Greece level after the break. While the game ended with warm embraces between the players, we needed a winner and so it went to penalties.

Sebastien Frey made the decisive save in the shoot-out, giving Inter the trophy, but everyone was there to celebrate.

Around 20,000 fans turned out at the Pankritio Stadium to watch the game, which raised money for ELPIDA, the Association of Friends of Children with Cancer.
