The Nerazzurri Coach after the 5-0 win at Sampdoria: "We managed the game well, now we'll continue with our heads, confidence and character"

GENOALuciano Spalletti was smiling after he was obviously satisfied with the 5-0 win at Sampdoria. “I liked what I saw from the team, we managed the game well with the right character against a strong opponent at a tough ground to visit.  A lot was said following the comments about quality after the Napoli match but I only had one intention. That was to do something more and step up the analysis of my players with statistics. The group clicked today, we played as a team and the squad wanted the win at all costs.”

“What changed? We’ve already wasted a lot of time on this so it doesn’t make sense to dwell on the past months, it’s better to think of the future and keep playing like that. Today, we were compact and we managed situations well as a team. If the team works, I’m calm. It’s not all thanks to individuals but everyone as a whole.

The Nerazzurri  Coach was then asked if it’s a shame to now stop for the international break: “We’ve started doing things in the right way again, it was a moment in which we all understood how we could give a hand to turn things around so nothing has changed. To go again was what mattered and we now need to keep working, use our heads while showing self-confidence and character.”
