Goals from Rover and Nolan help secure Stefano Vecchi’s side’s spot in the final of the 70th Viareggio Cup against Fiorentina

LA SPEZIA - Stefano Vecchi’s side beat Parma 2-0 on Monday to advance to the final of the 70th Viareggio Cup, with goals from Rover and Nolan duly enough for the Nerazzurri to progress. They will now face Fiorentina on Wednesday at 15:00 CEST in the final at the Stadio Torquato Bresciani, with the Viola having beaten Juventus in their semi-final.

As the match itself, Vecchi’s Under-19s went close to taking the lead several times in the opening stages, with Gavioli looking particularly dangerous up front. Parma soon responded in the 37th minute, although Pissardo produced a fine save to keep out Garni.

Unperturbed by the Ducali’s first effort of the game, the Nerazzurri deservedly took the lead just a minute later, with Rover heading home following a right-sided cross.

The second half then started with a change for Stefano Vecchi’s side, as Pompetti replaced Danso who was on a booking. The first chance after the interval fell to Parma, although Colley failed to get his side level.

Both sides missed chances as the second half progressed, although Nolan then made the difference in the 75th minute, rising high to head home a corner from Pompetti. Inter controlled the match during the final stages and deservedly earned themselves the chance to face Fiorentina in the final on Wednesday.

Catch up with all the action at 21:00 CEST on Inter TV.
