Ausilio: "Our ambitions are the same with or without the Champions League"

ROME - Sporting Director Piero Ausilio spoke to Mediaset Premium ahead of Lazio-Inter, the Nerazzurri's final match of the 2017-18 Serie A season. "There's the awareness that we have started a journey, we know we must improve and that it's only the first year. We are satisfied to arrive at the end of the season still playing for something important. We need one result tonight and if we do not win, we will start again on Monday aiming to have an even better season next year."

"In any case, this has been a positive year. There's a journey of growth with Spalletti and it's normal to have difficult periods in this process. Our quality, however, is coming through and whoever works in football knows that time and patience are required. We have taken the right route and we will improve even more next year. Qualification for the Champions League makes a difference on an economic level, but it doesn't change the ambitions and the project of the Suning group. We are doing our utmost to be competitive in as short a time as possible. Whatever happens, we will build a good squad, following the road we have chosen."
