Ranocchia: “We wanted this win at all costs”

ROME - Defender Andrea Ranocchia could not hide his delight following Sunday’s dramatic victory over Lazio, a result that ensures the Nerazzurri’s spot in the Champions League next season: “After some difficult years, we wanted to secure fourth place at all costs. We eventually achieved our objective after a crazy game. Lazio are a top side but we always believed in ourselves.

“We gave everything, and when this is the case, results arrive sooner or later. All of the fans were fantastic and a special bond has been created. They’ve supported us throughout and they came here tonight to play this final with us. Fortunately, we got the win. I also want to thank the Coach for getting us back into the Champions League - well done to him and well done to everyone else. If the Coach had not brought me on then I would’ve come on myself.”
