The Senegalese forward today spoke to the press: "Spalletti had an important role in my decision to come here"

APPIANO GENTILE - New Nerazzurri signing Keita Balde Diao today held his press conference at the Suning Training Centre, as he answered questions from the journalists present: “The history of this club has always fascinated me. Inter are a team that I’ve always liked, ever since I was a child. When you have the chance to come to Inter it’s hard to say no. I really enjoyed my time at Monaco but I want to thank the Nerazzurri club for having brought me here. Serie A is a tough league, one that I know already and one where I can keep improving.”

The Senegalese attacker also spoke of his relationship with Spalletti: “I knew him already and obviously he played an important part in my decision to come here. He has great experience, he knows the Italian league well and everyone has spoken very highly of him. I am pleased to be here and working with him. In terms of my position, I can play anywhere along the front; on the wing, or as a second or leading striker.”

As for his thoughts on the Nerazzurri's start to the season, Diao added: “We are ready for the game against Torino. The defeat in Reggio Emilia doesn’t change anything in terms of our objectives. We are a great side and we’re aware of our ability. Fighting for the Scudetto? We must think about doing well for ourselves and winning each match, then we’ll see where we are at the end of the season."
