Armando Madonna's Under-19s beat Juventus thanks to a second-half Adorante goal to set up a final against the Rossoneri

TURIN - At the Stadio Censin Bosia, Armando Madonna’s Under-19s beat Juventus to book a place in the final of the sixth Trofeo Memorial Mamma Cairo. In Asti, it was a goal from Adorante that proved decisive as the Nerazzurri’s number 9 did well to finish beyond Loria after a scramble in the box. Tomorrow night at 21:00 CEST, a derby against Milan will decide who wins the competition outright.

Inter approached the match well and in the sixth minute, Merola benefitted from a mistake by the Bianconeri’s defence but his shot was too weak and central. Two minutes later, Gavioli tried his luck but the winger wasn’t able to get enough power on the shot. In the 13th minute, it was Inter again. Mulattieri, who was playing on the right, squared it for Merola who went within centimetres of making it 1-0. Halfway through the first half, it was Salcedo’s turn to fire at goal. His shot was powerful but not accurate enough to beat Loria.

In the 26th minute, Juventus registered their first shot as Frederiksen fired just wide of Dekic’s post. Six minutes from the break, Morrone was sent off for bringing Gavioli down from behind and for which he received a second yellow card. In the 42nd minute, another good move saw Adorante miss the chance to make it 1-0. With time almost up, a good strike from Mulattieri was deflected out for a corner.

In the second half, Inter continued to have control of the ball and make the most of the man advantage before taking the lead through Adorante. At a corner, he was the quickest in the box to get on the ball and make it 1-0. The Nerazzurri looked to double the lead through Vergani who hit it well with his left foot but Loria was ready. In the 73rd minute, Dekic did brilliantly to turn a Bandeira effort behind for a corner. 15 minutes from the end, Madonna’s side tried to finish it off. Persyn did well to get away from two defenders but the Juventus goalkeeper made the stop. At the end, the Bianconeri tried to find an equaliser from various set pieces but it was in vain. Inter were the deserved winners and will now face Milan who beat Torino 3-2 in the final of the sixth Trofeo Memorial Mamma Cairo.
