Coach Andrea Zanchetta and goalkeeper Filip Stankovic spoke after the tournament in memory of the historic scout

MILAN -Andrea Zanchetta’s Inter side today triumphed at the 1st Memorial Pierluigi Casiraghi – the tournament dedicated to the historic Nerazzurri scout who passed away on 28th March. After beating Real Madrid 1-0 in the final thanks to a goal from Esposito, this is what the Inter coach and captain Filip Stankovic had to say.

Andrea Zanchetta: “We are right at the start of the season and we have a long road ahead of us. However, we're starting from an important base. Today, we made more errors compared to yesterday’s game. We were less fluid but we managed to play with a lot of intensity. The lads did well and I’m very pleased.

“Our pre-season went very well and we worked a lot of on our footballing ideas. This will take us forward during the season. I expect the players to grow as soon as possible to be ready for the Primavera. Those in football play to win and the lads must understand this. We need to combine both growth and results.”

As for his relationship with Madonna, he said: “We’ve already spoken several times and we are both passionate about football. It’s a great relationship that we’ll build over time.”

Filip Stankovic: “We are very happy, we worked hard and won 1-0. We want to do well in the league, as we did last year with the Under-16s. We’ve just started and we know that it’s a long road ahead. Expectations? I expect to do well and to win as much as possible.”
