The Portuguese midfielder today spoke to Sky: "I am training well and I want to make sure I'm ready to give my best when called upon"

APPIANO GENTILE - Following this morning's training session at Appiano Gentile, JoaoMario conducted this interview with Sky Sport: "I am calm. I am working well and I am available to Coach Spalletti. I am waiting for an opportunity to help the team. I am still here, and I know the coach, players and the club. There are no problems and the most important thing for me now is to get back to my best so I can help the team."

The Portuguese midfielder also discussed the controversy surrounding an interview he released some time ago: "When I discussed the problems of my Inter experience, I was misinterpreted by the person who interviewed me. My first year at Inter wasn't easy. It was my first outside of Portugal and the team changed a lot that season. However, that is now part of the past and I am only thinking about turning whistles into applause. I know that my body language can sometimes be read badly and this is something that I am working on.

"When I chose to leave last winter it was only because I didn't want to risk missing out on the World Cup. It wasn't because of any issues with the coach or my teammates. I am now more mature compared to when I arrived. I've had a great relationship with the squad since day one, in particular with Miranda, D'Ambrosio, Handanovic and Perisic. They all helped me a lot when I joined the club. I am training well and I want to make sure I can give best when called upon."
