The Elite Academy Director spoke with Sky Sport about the state of Italian youth football

MILAN - Director of the Elite Academy Roberto Samaden was interviewed by Sky Sport and he discussed the state of Italian youth football.

"It’s the base that has shrunk a lot and this is what we need to worry about. It’s important to have a project that embraces not just football, but the world of sport in general, one that also involves schools. The problem is in the early stages, not in elite football and we need to be worried about grassroots football. It would be good to have a technical director at the Federation and a director for the youth areas but we don’t have this at the moment. Then, certainly football is played less in a certain way and this is why it’s necessary to invest and plan. This is what other countries have done for the good of the system. For me, it wouldn’t be difficult to do this."
