The Vice-President to Rai Radio 1: "We've got an important month coming up, we need to be focused and alert"

MILAN - Inter Vice-President JavierZanetti spoke to Rai Radio 1 show Radio anch'io sport to discuss where Inter are two days ahead of the crucial Champions League match against Tottenham Hotspur. "We’ve got a big month coming up with a lot of tough games. As always, our Coach will best prepare for the match in London, we’re taking on a very strong opponent who are in form and strong at home. We need to be very focused and alert, they need to win at all costs so we’ll have to do well to exploit the space that they leave open."

Inter are currently growing both on and off the pitch: "Our aim is to improve on what was done last season. I always said that the return to the Champions League was just a starting point. This season, we need to show that we’re more competitive and I think the team is doing well in this regard. Are we Juventus’ rivals? They’re having an extraordinary season and showing great consistency, it’s not easy to keep up with them but we’re thinking about our own journey because we want to improve on last year. In the summer, various new players came in who have brought extra quality to our squad. We want to be competitive at the highest level and you need consistency for this. We didn’t get off to the best start with the first games but then the team conducted itself well. Now, we need to stay where we are and fight for the top spots. As directors, we work to always make our Club more competitive. I was in China recently, we know that we’ve done significant things in the past two years but we still need to grow a lot."

Last night in Milan, the traditional gala dinner of the Fondazione Pupi was held. "I want to thank all of the people who have been a part of this great family for 17 years, helping with the development of lots of kids in Argentina and making them happy."

Finally, he was also asked about the recent events in Argentina. "That the Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors couldn’t be held due to serious violent episodes is certainly not a good look for my country. Unfortunately, you can’t undo what has happened but I hope that a solution can be found as soon as possible."
