De La Fuente's side recorded their seventh successive win in the league and remain top

MILAN – At the Suning Youth Development Centre, Inter Women emerged victorious once again: Sebastian De La Fuente’s side defeated Milan Ladies 2-0 thanks to goals from Marinelli and Merlo. The Nerazzurre have now won seven times in as many games and sit top of Serie B having scored 24 times and having not yet conceded.

Inter were excellent in the first half and were better than their opponents both in terms of how they played and the amount of chances created. Efforts from Regazzoli, Merlo and Pandini were the prelude to the Nerazzurre’s opening goal scored by Gloria Marinelli: Inter’s no.7 finished off a wonderful team move involving Merlo and Regazzoli to give her side the lead. The first half finished with the Nerazzurre deservedly in front.

The second half saw Milan Ladies put in a dogged display as they searched for the equaliser, with Inter dropping back and being caught on the counter a few times. Nevertheless, Schroffenegger was comfortably able to keep out what was thrown at her in Inter’s goal. In the final stages, Regazzoli had a number of attempts at goal but wasn’t able to find the back of the net. However, Merlo was able to finish off the match with a strike from the edge of the area.

The match therefore finished 2-0 to Inter Women: the Nerazzurre kept a clean sheet for the seventh consecutive match and remain top of the league. De La Fuente’s side will now start preparing for their Coppa Italia Derby match against Milan next Sunday at 13:30 CET at the Suning Youth Development Centre.
