Inter and Bologna together at the Shoah Memorial in memory of Arpad Weisz

MILAN - Ahead of the meeting between Inter and Bologna, AlessandroAntonello (Corporate CEO of FC Internazionale Milano) and GiuseppeMarotta (Sport CEO of FC Internazionale Milano) and Bologna’s CEO ClaudioFenucci exchanged customised shirts in memory of ArpadWeisz. They featured his name and the number 18 which means ‘life’ in Hebrew. With Ambrosiana, he won the 1929-30 Scudetto, which was the first with the league in a single round-robin format.
He was only 34 then and he remains the youngest coach to have guided a team to a Serie A title. He also uncovered the great Giuseppe Meazza. Later, he won the Scudetto twice at Bologna in the 1935-36 and 1936-37 seasons, in addition to the 1937 Coupe des Nations in Paris which was an early forerunner of the Champions League. Bologna beat Chelsea 4-1 in the final.
Arpad Weisz’s other former teams Alessandria, Bari and Novara also wished to pay tribute to the great Hungarian coach, sending their own delegations with their clubs’ kits. Also in attendance were the regional undersecretary Alan Rizzi, Honorary President of the Memoriale della Shoah Ferruccio de Bortoli and the Assistant Editor of Sky Sport Matteo Marani.
