Regazzoli's header secured a 16th straight win and promotion can be secured next week

SAVIGNANOSULRUBICONE - A header from Alice Regazzoli proved decisive in the 76th minute as Inter came from behind to win. The Inter Women started slowly but grew into the game, turning the result around thanks to goals from Costi and Regazzoli. It was a vital result for Sebastian La Fuente’s team in the race to earn promotion to Serie A with six games remaining. Promotion will be secured with a win against Arezzo in the next match, regardless of results elsewhere. It would be a deserved achievement for the team who have won 16 from 16.

The first shot was from Cesena’s Petralia who called Capelletti into action. Straight after, Inter went on the attack with the competition’s top scorer Gloria Marinelli but the goalkeeper kept her out. In the 27th minute, Cuciniello hit the bar but the rebound bounced off Merlo and across the line. Inter looked to respond and were able to equalise in the 40th minute when a shot-cum-cross by Fabiano Costi caught Pacini.

In the second half, Inter were on the front foot and made it 2-1 in the 76th minute when Alice Regazzoli converted with her head from a Locatelli free kick to turn the game around. At the end, De La Fuente’s side did well in managing possession to bring home the points. Next match, three points will be enough for Inter to mathematically secure promotion to Serie A.
