The Nerazzurri Coach after Inter vs. Slavia Prague: "We didn't find the right solutions, I'm the one who's primarily responsbile"

MILAN - Inter’s 2019-20 Champions League campaign started with a 1-1 draw this evening against Slavia Prague at the Meazza, with Barella cancelling out Olayinka’s 63rd-minute goal late on. This is what Antonio Conte had to say after the game:

"Slavia Prague attacked us with intensity and showed a ruthless streak in doing so. We didn’t do well in terms of finding the right solutions and struggled too much,” said the Coach. “I can’t be satisfied with the performance because we didn’t demonstrate how we want to play. I’m the one who’s primarily responsible, both in terms of the selections made and because I obviously didn’t make the lads understand what I wanted from them well enough.”

“We could have done a lot more, I take responsibility because this isn’t the kind of football we want to play and why we train. We also need to improve our character, which is why I talk about the ‘journey’ we’re on. The guys need to remain calm, these are normal steps when you’re growing,” he added.

Finally, he responded to questions about individuals: “I’m not going to talk about individuals because the whole team was under par today. The group needs to continue to work and my job is to make them improve. This is why I’m here.”
