Conte: "We've begun a new journey"

A day after the match against the Rossoblù, Coach Antonio Conte was a guest on the television show ‘Che tempo che fa’ on Rai Due. This is what he had to say: “I don’t revel in wins. On the other hand, the feelings I have after a defeat last much longer. Losing annoys me, it’s like a temporary period of mourning. Today, I’m obviously happy, but let’s not mention it. We’ve begun a new journey and are first, we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

“In all of my relationships, be they personal or with the press, I’m always direct, I’m not diplomatic. I display all the passion I have when we score and win. I don’t come up with these things in advance, it’s just pure passion. This is who I am, I’m sorry if this annoys people.

“I’ve coached in England and I have to say that you can really appreciate the atmosphere surrounding games there. People go to matches to enjoy the spectacle, and the effort put in by the players on the pitch is recognised. I often think back to one particular moment: Chelsea had just run out 4-1 winners against Middlesbrough, a team who were fighting for their lives at the bottom. Despite the defeat, the away fans applauded my players, who were on the winning side. I was surprised and also went to pay tribute to these supporters.”
