Quotes from the Coach after the #DerbyMilano win: "I wanted to make a good impression, the lads were excellent"

MILAN – Inter’s fourth win in as many league games will be particularly pleasing and special for Antonio Conte, who picked up his first #DerbyMilano win as Inter’s boss. This is what he had to say after the match: “These are always special games and never easy to win. It was my first Milan Derby and I wanted to make a good impression.

“We’re certainly very satisfied, the lads played really well in all aspects. We came into this game on the back of a Champions League performance which left a bitter taste in the mouth. This perhaps fired us up even more to tackle the Derby with the spirit and attention that was required. It was a deserved win, I’m happy for our fans and the lads.”

Lukaku also enjoyed his first success in the Derby della Madonnina: “Romelu can still improve a lot. He’s only 26 and, by continuing to work together, he can grow still further and become a very important player. This is also the case with Lautaro: he’s only 22 and can make big improvements through hard work. The important thing is that everyone shows willingness, as they are doing now. We have an idea about how we want to play and the lads clearly brought this to the pitch today.”

Thanks to these three points, Inter have locked down top spot and sit on full points. Conte, however, is urging everybody to keep their feet on the ground: “We can’t deny that we’re happy, these wins are important because they give you self-awareness, but we all know that we still need to work a lot. In any case, there’s a lot of desire to work and this is the most important aspect. This is a good group, we’re heading in the right direction with our work and know that we need to think about the team and not individuals.”
