MILAN - Two Nerazzurri players picked up important awards. At the ninth edition of the Gran Galà del Calcio organised by the Associazione Italiana Calciatori (AIC), Samir Handanovic and Nicolò Barella made the Top 11 for the 2018-19 Serie A TIM season.
For the goalkeeper and Nerazzurri captain, he was named the Best Goalkeeper in Serie A after keeping 17 clean sheets. On the stage, the Slovenian said: “It’s normal at the moment that we’re happy to be in this position in the table but we’re not even halfway through the season. We believe in ourselves and that’s enough. My heart is Nerazzurro.”
Nicolò Barella was recognised for his excellent season last campaign with Cagliari: “I thank Cagliari for this award and Inter for believing in me, for this big step forward,” he said when collecting the prize. “I’m better now and no longer on crutches. When will I be back? If my teammates keep playing like this, I won’t come back,” he joked. “Seriously though, I’m really happy with the win against SPAL.”
