Our efforts to reduce the high school drop-out rate in the suburbs of Casablanca

CASABLANCA - The Hay Mohammedi district, deep in the suburbs of Casablanca, is one of the poorest in the whole of Morocco, and is characterised by both an extreme lack of socio-cultural infrastructure and an extremely high unemployment rate, especially among young people.

Through a multitude of activities run since 2002 (from language courses to computer labs), the Moroccan association Initiative Urbaine has been fighting against the all-too-common occurrence of young people dropping out of school early, alongside their work in the fight for gender equality. It’s here that Inter Campus have focused their support of the association, raising awareness of the importance of education and the participation in society amongst children, through the means of the game of football, the Nerazzurri shirt and regular training sessions.
