The Nerazzurri midfielder gives his thoughts on the upcoming semi-final against Shakhtar Donetsk

DÜSSELDORF – ‘We’ve got an important match ahead of us. In the past few days, we’ve been taking a close look at Shakhtar’s game and we know that they're a strong side, with some top players: we’ve got to prepare in the right way and put the Coach’s plans into practice.” With our clash with Shakhtar Donetsk, Roberto Gagliardini gave his thoughts on our clash with the Ukrainian side to Sky.

“Like Bayer Leverkusen, Shakhtar have got some technically-gifted, pacey players in attack, they’ve got quality and dribbling ability, but we’re looking at how we can make things difficult for them. We treat every game like it’s a final, they’re all straight knockout ties, so that’s how we’ve got to approach each game. At Inter, we haven’t been involved in a tie like this for a long time, but we’ve got all the necessary qualities to perform in them. Since the restart we’ve basically been playing matches every three days, and now we’ve got a week to prepare for the match, meaning we can come into this match in the best shape possible."

Finally, he commented on his output this season and the  many minutes he’s being given at this crucial time of the season: “The work we’re doing with the Coach is of fundamental importance. He’s placed a lot of trust in me and I’m finding my rhythm. I’m really chuffed with how it’s going, I’m really grateful, and I’m looking to repay his confidence in me every time I step out on the pitch.”
