Wishing one of the greatest full-backs of all time all the best on his 60th birthday

MILAN – Tenacity, class, consistency and a special affection for our colours. For Andreas Brehme, football has always been the centre of his focus, a starting point to continuously improve.

“I used to train a lot with both feet, this is an important lesson for young players. It’s vital to be well-rounded.”

He arrived at Inter in 1988 alongside fellow compatriot Lothar Matthaus and went on to wear the Nerazzurri shirt for four seasons, remaining a key figure throughout.

“After I arrived in 1988, we managed to win the Scudetto in my first season. We enjoyed a great campaign and had an exceptional team, and then there was Trapattoni. I stayed at Inter for four years, and the Club has a place in my heart.”

Brehme made a total of 154 appearances for Inter, scoring twelve goals and making a significant contribution to three trophies won by the Nerazzurri: a Scudetto title, a UEFA Cup triumph and a Supercoppa Italiana success. His magnificent performances saw him become a key pillar of Inter’s record-breaking Scudetto-winning side and a German footballing legend. In 1990, he scored in the round of 16, the semi-finals and the final as Germany won the World Cup.

From FC Internazionale Milano and on behalf of all Inter fans, happy 60th birthday to Andreas Brehme, one of the best full-backs of all time.
