The Inter captain spoke in the pre-match press conference ahead of Inter vs. Real

MILAN – With little more than 24 hours left until the game against Real Madrid - matchday 4 in Group B of the Champions League, 21:00 CET tomorrow at San Siro - Samir Handanovic spoke alongside Antonio Conte in the pre-match press conference.

Why haven’t Inter been able to give the best account of themselves in the Champions League? Is this issue down to the quality of the opposition or is it an internal problem?

There are still three games left. We can only really make assessments after they’ve all been played. On the games we’ve played, I think we could complain more than others but, and I repeat, we should only have these discussions after we’ve played these three games.

From your perspective, do you draw motivation from the goals you’ve conceded?

When you concede a lot, there’s always a certain amount of worrying, but then you look at them in isolation - the why and the how. A lot of teams sit deep when they play us, and look to play on the counter. The goals we’re conceding are more often than not from these types of situation. We haven’t conceded many due to a brilliant move or a good bit of play from the opposition, who have played better than us. We can always improve on these things. When the numbers are not on your side, if you want to grow and raise the level is the first thing to adjust and we always have to improve.
