Barella: "As a team, we never give up"

CAGLIARI - Coming up against his former side in his home city, NicolòBarella stepped up to the mark against Cagliari. In a performance full of his usual grit and determination, the midfielder smashed in the Nerazzurri’s equaliser in the 77th minute to make it 1-1, scoring a superb volley to spark Inter’s comeback. 

The joy of scoring was met by muted celebrations out of respect for his former side; however, Nicolò soon followed his goal up with an assist for D’Ambrosio, which pushed the Nerazzurri towards victory: “This is always a tough place to come,” said Barella to DAZN after the match. “It was a great team victory. We never gave up, even after going a goal down. We’re pleased. There will also be difficult moments but we must remain solid and respond well, proving ourselves as a team, as we have done today.

“I still have to improve on many aspects of my game, but I am delighted with the goal. It’s a shame to have hurt Cagliari but I am pleased for the team. It’s always emotional returning here, but I am a professional and I must always give my all for Inter.”
