The Nerazzurri goalkeeper made a number of decisive saves against Napoli

MILAN – He made some exceptional saves in the second half, helping Inter come away with a 1-0 victory over Napoli at San Siro. After the match, Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic had the following to say: “It was an even and very tactical affair: neither team wanted to get caught out. Every match is important, and it’s vital not to lose against fellow challengers. Winning these games gives you more motivation.

“The match was likely to be decided by a certain episode either way. We’ll enjoy these three points and start preparing for Spezia. In my opinion, we haven’t had highs and lows in terms of our performances, we were eliminated from the Champions League because we failed to score in both our matches against Shakhtar. We’ve now won five games in a row in Serie A, but the league table doesn’t mean anything right now. There are many teams fighting it out for the top positions.

“As captain, I need to stand up during the most difficult moments in particular. Nights like this are pleasing because a goalkeeper needs to help the team pick up points and increase the confidence levels of his teammates. Scudetto? It’s a word that many people can talk about, but what happens on the pitch will determine who deserves it.”
