Casadei's late goal isn't enough for the Nerazzurri, who fall to defeat at the Paolo Mazza in Ferrara

FERRARA – At the Stadio Paolo Mazza in Ferrara, Armando Madonna’s Inter side fell to defeat today: the hosts ran out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Ellertsson and Seck. Di Casadei’s goal for the Nerazzurri wasn’t enough.

The hosts began on the front foot, with their high pressing and quick passing worrying the Nerazzurri. And this is how Spal’s first goal of the game came about: in the 15th minute, the hosts won the ball high up the pitch and Ellertsson fired across Stankovic to open the scoring. Spal controlled matters for the rest of the half, with the Nerazzurri very rarely threatening.

At the start of the second half, Inter had a huge chance to open the scoring: Carboni escaped down the left and picked out Oristanio, who hit the outside of the post. Midway through the second period, Spal once again regained the momentum and went on the attack, eventually scoring in the 70th minute through Seck. Four minutes from time, Casadei reduced the arrears following a scramble in the box. Just a few moments later, Galeotti produced a miraculous save to stop Madonna’s side from drawing level. Despite a late assault, Inter ultimately fell short.
