MILAN – Inter fell to a 2-0 home defeat against Real Madrid on matchday four of the Champions League this evening. Following the match, Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic had the following to say to Sky Sport: “We knew that this was the most difficult group, but we also knew that we were more than capable of doing well in it. We need to face the facts, the pitch doesn’t lie. It’s what happens on the grass that decides who progresses and who doesn’t.
“Real Madrid know how to pass and keep the ball. When we went down to ten men, it became even more difficult for us. We gave everything but Real managed to win because of the mistakes we made.
“Things are now looking difficult for us in the group. There’s still a bit of hope but the situation certainly isn’t the best.”
