Facts and stats on Sunday's game

MILAN – On Sunday at 20:45 CET, Inter and Juventus meet for the 175th time in the league - the 88th of these at the Meazza. This time, Antonio Conte’s side will face Andrea Pirlo’s men on matchday 18 in the current Serie A season. The Nerazzurri go into the game in second place on 37 points, with Juventus currently four points behind them. The best attack in Serie A (Inter have scored 43 goals) meets the league’s best defence (Juve have conceded just 16, level with Napoli and Verona) and both sides can boast having one of the division’s most lethal finishers: Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ahead of this titanic fixture, here are the all the numbers, fun facts and records between the two sides.

CURRENT FORM

Inter have won five consecutive home games in Serie A, but haven’t reached six in a row since December 2018 (seven in that case). The Nerazzurri go into this game in second place in the table with 37 points, with a record of eleven wins, four draws and two defeats, and as the league’s best attack with 43 goals scored - the most in the division - in 17 games (23 conceded). Inter have scored more headed goals (nine) than any other side in Serie A this season, while Juve are the only team in Europe’s Top-5 leagues not to have conceded a single goal to a header so far this season.

Juventus have won their last three Serie A away games, their best run since March 2019 (four). Pirlo’s side are currently fourth in the table with 33 points. Furthermore, they have won each of their last three games: against Udinese, AC Milan and Sassuolo. The Bianconeri have scored 35 goals and conceded just 16, making them the best defence in Serie A.

This will be the 175th meeting in Serie A between Inter and Juventus, and the 88th at the Meazza, where the record reads 35 Inter wins, 28 draws and 25 wins for the Bianconeri. The Nerazzurri have scored 135 goals at home in the league against Juve.

PLAYER FOCUS

The fixture pits the two top scorers in Serie A this season against one another: Romelu Lukaku (12 goals and three assists) and Cristiano Ronaldo (15 goals and one assist). The two have scored a combined 27 goals in the league this season, more than twelve teams in the league.

Marcelo Brozovic has provided at least one assist in each of his last four Serie A appearances: no Inter player has gone on a better run in the competition since 2004/05.
