The rearranged matchday five clash finishes in a draw following two penalties

CAGLIARI – At the Centro Sportivo Asseminello, the matchday five clash between Cagliari and Inter in the Primavera 1 TIM division finished 1-1. Both goals came from the penalty spot, with Contini giving the hosts the lead and Fonseca grabbing an equaliser. The Nerazzurri’s U19s will return to action on Thursday, when they’ll face table-toppers Roma at the Stadio Breda.

Cagliari were more enterprising in the early stages of today’s clash, with Magri being called into action by Contini after just two minutes. Seven minutes later, the Nerazzurri goalkeeper was replaced by Rovida after being forced off by injury. In the 15th minute, Kinkoue was penalised for a foul in the box and the home side were awarded a penalty, which Contini converted. As the minutes ticked by, Inter grew into the game and managed to draw level: after Palomba had handled in the area, Fonseca sent Ciacci the wrong way from twelve yards out. The equaliser gave Madonna’s men more confidence, and they came close to completing the turnaround through Sottini at the end of the first half.

Inter needed to make another enforced substitution at the break as Fonseca, who had been involved in a heavy challenge in the closing stages of the opening period, made way for Mirarchi. With 63 minutes on the clock, Oristanio got the better of Palomba but then fired narrowly wide. There were very few chances of note as the game neared its end: it finished Cagliari 1-1 Inter following an even affair.
