Primavera TIM Cup, Inter 2 - 4 Lazio

MILAN – Lazio beat Inter 4-2 at the Suning Youth Development Centre today to qualify for the semi-finals of the Primavera Tim Cup.

The Biancocelesti made the most of the Nerazzurri’s slow start, taking a seventh-minute lead through Castigliani, who found the net after Rovida was unable to get the ball out of the danger zone. The Nerazzurri looked to respond, with Vezzoni (who hit the woodwork) and Iliev coming close. Just as Armando Madonna’s team were really pushing the away side back, Lazio were awarded a penalty. Moro stepped up and converted with 26 minutes on the clock. Twelve minutes later, Inter reduced the arrears through Satriano, who scored with a fantastic header, but the Nerazzurri’s joy was short-lived. Indeed, in the 42nd minute, Moro grabbed his second and Lazio’s third. Just moments before the half-time whistile, Shehu hit the post for the Biancocelesti.

The Nerazzurri made a perfect start to the second half, with Iliev pulling a goal back with an excellent strike from outside the area. Madonna’s side kept plugging away but suffered a bit blow in the 64th minute, when Bertini made it 4-2. Late pressure from Inter’s U19s didn’t amount to anything: Lazio emerged victorious to qualify for the semis.
