The Inter forward racked up four goals as Belgium reached the quarter-finals

While Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni reached the summit of European football with Italy, another Inter player has received recognition for his fine performances at Euro 2020.

Although Belgium’s Euro 2020 journey reached its conclusion at the quarter-final stage at the hands of none other than Italy, Romelu Lukaku’s displays until that point were deemed worthy of a place in the Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament. The striker was also named the Serie A Player of the Season in 2020/21 after registering 24 goals that helped fire Inter to Scudetto glory.

The 28-year-old was selected as the centre-forward in the Team of the Tournament, after bagging four goals, the first two of which came in Belgium’s opener against Russia and were followed by a celebration that paid tribute to club team-mate Christian Eriksen. The striker also got on the scoresheet against Finland in the group and Italy in the knockout stages, when he cut the arrears from the penalty-spot in a 2-1 loss.

With 64 goals to his name in 98 international caps, nobody has scored more goals for the Red Devils than Lukaku.

The Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament: Donnarumma (Italy); Walker (England), Bonucci (Italy), Maguire (England), Spinazzola (Italy); Højbjerg (Denmark), Jorginho (Italy), Pedri (Spain); Chiesa (Italy), Lukaku (Belgium), Sterling (England).
